The TIR Carnet is an internationally recognized customs transit document for cross-border road transport. It allows household goods to be transported under customs seal through multiple countries without incurring regular import duties at each border. An international chain of guarantees secures the deferred duties and taxes. Typically, goods are transported in secured or sealed loading units, such as in a truck, a moving container, a crate, or a comparable transport unit.
